Student Teaching 2nd day!!

Yesterday (first day of student teaching) was pretty business like. The new principal catered IHOP for our breakfast and we had a morning meeting. Everyone got their planning books and we all (including me) got faculty handbooks. It was very nice! They had my name plate with my handbook and the art teacher gave me a pin she made from clay shaped like a dolphin. That is their mascot. I have a history at Northern Shores Elementary School. My oldest son went there, his principal at the time started me into being a teacher assistant, and my cooperating teacher is from a town in PA 25 minutes from where I went to high school! Go figure!

2nd day- Today was fun! The principal had a continental breakfast for us and because the school had done so well on SOLs last year (highest in the system in all subjects tested), she had a disco ball, lights, and played the "Celebration" song as we all got up and danced around the cafeteria. She said they deserved to celebrate for doing such a great job. Then we had a short meeting ad it was off to our rooms. I started my bulletin board. I should have the picture and a description of the activity that goes along with it by Friday. Homework and off to bed. Like Mario, I too, have a hard time getting up in the morning! God Bless!

Well, Diane, don't get used to all the free food and frivolity. Also, you may want to think about having a gratitude journal, you have to be careful about the division of Church and State. The students have a moment of silence each day. You might want to tell them that you think about (not pray) about something you are grateful for.

Wow, the highest SOL scores, you will probably need to get to know the gifted resource teacher so you can challenge the students.

Sounds like you are enjoying your time, I mean a IHOP and then a contintental breakfast? Not too bad. We had something similar on Wednesday. The PTA served the teachers breakfast. They did a great job.

I hope the bulletin board came/is coming together.

That is so nice! I am glad you like everything so far. I feel like I am so far behind with everything. I have such a hard time with this computer I am using at my parents house! Last Wednesday we had a large breakfast from the PTA it was so nice. Then onthe first day the 27th the principal had a breakfast for us as well! I love food:)
